1690 Song of Aengus Dishes

1690 Song of Aengus Dishes
from £160.00
Handbuilt terracotta dishes decorated in white slip and sgraffito, inspired by the final lines from the poem, The Song of Wandering Aengus, written by WB Yeats, first published with this title in 1899. Apples and meadow flowers border the edge, with an apple branch at the centre. The larger dish, the charger, features two birds in flight, which in happy and consummate hindsight, represent Aengus and his ‘glimmering girl’, finally reunited.
