1690 Anemoi Dishes & Bowls | In Stock
1690 Anemoi, named after the Greek wind gods, is a collection of low shallow dishes and wide bowls in which clouds caught by myth spill and hover. The forms are handbuilt in terracotta, with handles modelled on 5th century BC skyphos vessels and crude little feet inspired by 17th century provincial Dutch cauldrons. The surface is decorated in white slip with loose strokes of underglaze in colours of warm blacks, sappy green and plaster pinks.

Additional Notes: These earthenware ceramics are fired at relatively low temperatures and are not vitrified, which means they are slightly porous and coarser than stoneware or porcelain. Occasionally, if the vessel contains liquid, moisture will form a bloom on the base. Please make sure you protect precious surfaces if you intend to display these works for long periods of time containing water. To clean, wash gently in warm soapy water by hand. Not dishwasher safe.
