Handbuilt terracotta dishes, decorated in white slip and sgraffito, designed for Speak, Memory, a special exhibition at Casa Cabana for Milan Salone del Mobile, 2025.

The surface decoration is inspired by a memory of Chinese Imari porcelain, glazed in sooty blues, lavender greys and faded orange, with motifs in relief moulded from antique cookie and chocolate moulds; depicting a tiger, or a bird, a lotus flower, or a beaver and a butterfly, all of which have deep-rooted symbolic meaning evocative of good fortune and longevity in Chinese culture.

There are various designs in this size, distinguished by the pattern on the outer edge: the bulrush, lattice work, cherry blossom and solid cobalt blue. Painted at the centre is a little plant growing in a decorative, footed pot, which varies in design from dish to dish.
