Fear Naught DIsh
Fear Naught DIsh
Handbuilt terracotta dish, decorated with white slip and sgraffito, featuring trompe l’oeil illustrations of my youngest son Albert's garden finds: heartsease, or wild violet, a symbol of peace of mind and calm; the tiny bird skull, a reference to knowledge and wisdom; the shards of bone a symbol of the physical matter which holds us to this particular layer of existence and the conker, the prolific seed of the horse chestnut tree, an icon of the playfulness and wonder in the natural world. The wreath around the dish very much conveys the circular and comforting reality of life and death. There is naught really to fear, if we accept death completes life.
Dimensions: Approximately 32cm diameter, 5cm height.
Additional Notes: Wash gently in warm soapy water by hand. Not dishwasher safe. Not oven safe.
